DEEPOCEAN UK

Manufacture of 25k (Motor Alternator)

Overview
DeepOcean requested an MA set be manufactured for implementation onto their new build next generation cable lay vessel- the DOC 8500.

Work Scope

  • An account was opened with DeepOcean to ensure the efficient undertaking of the job at Deebridge’s workshop in Aberdeen.
  • Supply of MA Crash Frame, weather proofed and with lifting points.
  • Supply of 25kva double bearing alternator as well as the supply and fitting of a 22KW, 440 volts, 3 phase, 60 hertz Marelli motor.
  • Manufacture and supply of control panel configuration as defined and outlined by DeepOcean in the initial job specification.
  • Delivery of goods to DeepOcean’s site in Middlesbrough was ahead of schedule and to great satisfaction of the customer.

Project Outcomes

  • Supported DeepOcean in their subsea operations whilst ensuring they met their high standards that their North Sea Oil & Gas clients demand.
  • Experience gained by Deebridge personnel by creating a custom spec MA set.
  • Document Pack created for DeepOcean to certify work, provide operational manuals and outline factory test results.

Lunar Freezing & Cold Storage

Onsite Services; quick response for breakdown repair

Overview
A fish conveyor at Lunar’s Aberdeen production facility broke down, requiring immediate repair.

Work Scope
The conveyor system was inspected and a cable was found to be broken along with a faulty inverter. A replacement cable and inverter were fitted and the conveyor was then tested.

Project Outcomes

  • The conveyor was repaired on the same day, meaning Lunar lost minimal production capacity due to the breakdown.
  • Due to the relationship we have developed with Lunar, our staff are made available to them for emergency break down calls at a standard rate and our staff need minimal oversight while onsite given their experience and familiarity with Lunar’s facility.

Oceaneering International

Workshop Services; motor-generator set serviced and installed on a skid unit

Overview
Oceaneering required the quick servicing & overhaul of a motor-generator (MG) set, which was then to be fitted to a skid unit for an urgent offshore project.

Work Scope
The MG set was dismantled, inspected, cleaned and tested, including the starter, with new bearings and belts fitted. The set was then installed on a skid unit which was tested, weatherproofed and painted.

Project Outcomes

  • Oceaneering required a fast delivery, which Deebridge fully accommodated.
  • The MG set was upgraded with full weatherproofing in order to bring it up to standard for the projects requirements

Rowan Drilling (UK)

Workshop Services; 5 yearly service of GE traction motors for drilling rig

Overview
Rowan Drilling required the GE traction drilling motors from the Gorilla-6 rig to be serviced as per their routine maintenance plan.

Work Scope
The motors were dismantled, inspected and individual components were tested. All components including the armature & field coils were removed and cleaned. The brakes were steam cleaned until IR readings were acceptable. New bearings, brushes and shunt leads were fitted before the motors were reassembled, tested and re-painted.

Project Outcomes

  • The motors were returned to Rowan within the specified timeframe.
  • The run life of the machine was improved and extended via the re-varnishing of the armature & field coils in our VI facility, with Deebridge being the singular provider of this process in Aberdeen.

Safety & Technical Hydraulics

Manufacture; design and build of control panel systems

Overview
Safety & Technical Hydraulics required five control panels for hydraulic powered flushing rigs.

Work Scope
Design and build five 18.5 KW HPU control panels with safe area enclosures and star delta starters. The panels design included a run meter, thermostat controls, a Manual/Auto/Off selector, control buttons for Pump/Cooler Start/Stop with indicator lights and float switch controls.

Project Outcomes

  • Consolidated service and component stock holding allowed for rapid job turnaround.
  • The control panels were fully installed on the flushing rigs at our workshop and delivered back to the client within 2 days at no extra charge, accommodating their project schedule comfortably.

SITA UK

Testing & Certification; PAT testing and electrical inspection services

Overview
SITA UK required PAT testing for industrial machinery and Electrical Inspection Certification of their fixed wire circuits at their Aberdeen East Tullos waste facility, Hill of Tramaud site and Altec Centre offices, as per regulatory requirements.

Work Scope
The PAT testing was organised and conducted, including tested labelling stickers for the equipment and submission of full report documents. This was carried out in conjunction with an electrical inspection of the fixed wire circuits, with certificates then submitted.

Project Outcomes

  • Deebridge were able to coordinate and complete all the PAT testing and electrical inspection services required at all 3 sites in just over a week, ensuring SITA UK faced no delay in meeting the relevant regulatory requirements for their electrical machinery and circuits.

Swire Oilfield Services

Onsite Services; sourcing and installation of a compressor unit

Overview
Swire needed a compressor unit be to installed in one of their Aberdeen facilities.

Work Scope
The position of the compressor was agreed with Swire and sourced by Deebridge, as well as power cabling which was run from the compressor container to the fuse board. An isolator was sourced and fitted to the control panel, with a spur unit also supplied and connected. The unit was finally tested and commissioned.

Project Outcomes

  • The entire unit and all consumables were sourced, installed, tested and commissioned within 2 weeks.
  • The onsite services team were able to install the unit with minimal oversight from Swire personnel given their experience and familiarity with Swire’s facility, having provided them with onsite electrical services on a regular basis.

Weatherford UK

Manufacture; EEXd starter panel

Overview
During the 5 yearly inspection of a hydraulic pump, Weatherford  made the decision to upgrade the pump unit with high oil temperature and low oil level shut down. This required replacing the existing EXd starter control.

Work Scope
The starter panel was designed, drawings were produced for Weatherford’s approval before components were sourced, with the panel being certified for an EXd IIB T4-T6 IP66 environment. Features included star-delta starting control and indication lights for hi oil temp, low oil level and overload shutdown. The panel was FAT tested before fitting.

Project Outcomes

  • The starter control panel was manufactured and fitted within 6 weeks of the order being accepted.
  • Deebridge installed the starter panel onto the pump frame and connected the motor, new level and temperature switches. The unit was tested and handed over to a Weatherford engineer, with a full Ex Doc-Pack.
